THE BERRY LIP TREND

THE LIP BERRY TREND - The Grown Up Edit

The Berry Lip Trend took centre stage during the SS16 shows and has only grown in popularity for AW16 . The best thing about berry lips from the past two seasons is the range of shades which it can be worn, berry, plum and wine shades. While these dark lips looked effortlessly gorgeous on the models, in everyday life it can be a difficult look to nail, especially for those of us who wouldn’t normally make much of a statement. It can be a little scary let’s say to go for something so bold. At The Grown Up Edit  we thought we should give it a go and see if it suited us, as we are two very different women with different colourings and different ages.

It turns out that we actually quite like it. But there is a key to making this work and keeping it modern. Keep your skin fresh and your eye makeup very minimal with a little eyeliner and great lashes. Don’t forget to keep those eyebrows groomed. To a apply the lipstick you must use it as a stain or blot it. Use a little of the lipstick in the centre of your lips and blur it outwards. You can do this with your finger or a brush. This way it will create a softer look and with the right shade there should be an option for everyone. This look has also been very popular with celebrities on the red carpet.

I chose two different shades of berry for Dani and I. Dani suits a lipstick with more blue tones. She has pink undertones to her skin and has dark eyes and hair. We found that the Rimmel Kate 03 Lipstick was perfect. I have yellow undertones in my skin and my hair is blonde and red shades, with my hazel eyes I found the Mac Hang Up Lipstick perfect with its warmer tones. Look on the Get Lippy blog if you are unsure which tone of lipstick to go for.
