The festive season is well and truly upon us and as a result we’re required to dust off our vintage wash jeans and don something a little more fancy. When it comes to dressing up Wendy and I like to keep things simple and chic, much like our day-to-day looks and this is where the LBD holds the crown. Just like a good pair of shoes or a bag, a black dress or in my case a jumpsuit, is an investment piece that will earn its keep over and over again.

Be it a black tie event, a girls night out or your work Christmas party, having a super chic all black ensemble in your wardrobe will be your fail safe when it comes to those fancier occasions. These days though the LBD doesn’t have to mean short and tight posh spice type fits. Wendy hates to show her armpit fold and knees so has chosen this gorgeous off the shoulder silk dress by Alexander Wang. The midi length makes this dress feel super modern and teamed with side splits and stiletto heels it stops it from feeling frumpy. She’s added a metallic clutch and a smokey eye to complete the look. Check out her 10 minute smokey eye tutorial here.

As I’m not the biggest fan of dresses I love how many jumpsuits the high street now has to offer. I have fairly broad shoulders for my frame so a halter neck style works well on me and when I saw this Whistles number had pockets and a wide leg I was sold. It still feels quite ‘dressy’ but by adding my go-to Acne block heels it gives it a twist that feels much more me. So no matter if you’re an LBD girl or an LBJ, ‘tis the season to find your perfect match.
