It was my first visit to the Greek island of Mykonos and it didn't disappoint. I was there shooting a beauty editorial for a woman's magazine. I was lucky enough to be staying in a wonderful hotel – The Grand Villa Elia, part of the Myconian Villa Collection. Nestled on a cliff face, overlooking the sea, with the beach five minutes away, and about 20 minutes from the airport. It’s the perfect place to escape the island’s colourful and famous party-vibe but not too far if you fancy a big one!
The Myconian Villa Collection couldn’t have designed a more perfect place. The Grand Villa Elia is a large hotel which isn’t usually what I’m drawn to. Somehow, it always feels spacious and uncrowded even when its fully-booked like when we stayed, so this shouldn’t change. The hotel is quite new and very stylish but doesn't lack warmth. This is a family-run business and you feel it. The staff are friendly and helpful and I wouldn’t be concerned about taking children here.
This is somewhere you’ll feel relaxed and will demand zero-thought and energy over what to do, day-by-day. They offer a shuttle car which will take you anywhere, whenever you want. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast. Everything is made at the hotel including the pastries and bread. The rest of the day is yours, whether you choose to laze around the infinity pool (you may be even lucky enough to have your own private pool), relax in your luxury room, have a spa treatment, head to the beach or local town. Either way you'll leave content and rested after your stay.
