On my recent trip to France I was in the perfect setting to channel my inner Jane Birkin and really embrace the French girl attitude to dressing and I’m not giving it up just yet. As the weather in London finally started to heat up at the weekend I decided to dig out my basket bag and espadrilles and see how they fared on this side of the Channel.
The humble basket bag is having a bit of a moment this summer and is no longer confined to the holiday section of your wardrobe. Big enough to fit all of your corner shop needs or a blanket for the park it’s super convenient whilst also giving you massive fashion kudos thanks to it’s Instagram fame. This one is from Basket Basket and they have a great range of styles and sizes.
After months of living in vintage wash denim (which is also a winning combo for the basket bag and espadrilles) I felt it was time to make the most of our short lived summer and brake out a dress in the city. This dress is a huge bargain from Zara at only £29.99 I thought I had read the price tag wrong! It looks and feels so much more expensive. The chambray blue is the colour of the season and its low dropped hem and pockets make it feel effortlessly chic. I just had to resist the outfit-induced compulsions to go and purchase sunflowers, baguettes and a bottle of red.
