The best under eye concealers
Unfortunately the skin under your eyes is a give-away for your age and your sins! It’s a question as a makeup artist I'm constantly asked, “What can I use to cover my dark circles?” Now I’ve hit my 40’s, it’s become a problem of mine. So whether it’s genetics, a late night, too much alcohol or salt, I can help you with my favourite concealers. They will help camouflage and blend away any sign of dark circles or heavy bags.
First of all I wouldn’t use the wand to apply your concealer. Put some on the back of your hand and apply with a tapping motion with your ring finger. This really will make a difference in coverage. If you find there still isn’t enough coverage, leave it 10 minutes and add another layer. You can also use a concealer in-between your eyes and around the corners of your nose and mouth. Get this right and it will brighten your whole face. You will need a shade for winter and a shade for summer and you can mix for any season in-between. Finally I always apply my concealer after foundation and eye makeup.
GIORGIO ARMANI High Precision Retouch £28
Giorgio Armani High Precision Retouch is my go-to at work. It will build up to whatever coverage you need and always keeps your under-eye moisturised so very easy to matt out those creases or add during the day. This high precision concealer helps blur the appearance of imperfections, conceals dark circles, and highlights the complexion. Containing light reflecting pearls, vitamin E and moisturisers, the formula diffuses light for radiant looking skin.
GIORGIO ARMANI Master Corrector £26
01 Pink: Corrects and brightens under eye circles for fair-to-medium skin tones. 2 Orange: Corrects and brightens under eye circles for medium-to-deep skin tones.
If you suffer from very dark under-eye circles Master Corrector will erase them. Apply and leave for a couple of minutes, then apply Giorgio Armani High Precision Retouch to match your skin tone. Formulated with vitamin E and glycerin, for a seamless, uniform application, this colour corrector hydrates the delicate under eye area while covering dark circles and shadows for an energised, more youthful appearance.
SISLEY Phyto-Cernes Eclat Tinted Eye Concealer £58
This is now my personal favourite and I use no3 in summer and no2 in winter. It’s expensive due to the fact it doubles up as an eye treatment. This tinted concealer instantly camouflages dark circles and shadows to perfection, reduces puffiness and signs of fatigue, visually smoothes out wrinkles and fine lines and beautifies the eye contour area. Day after day, it helps significantly minimise puffiness. The supple, melting formula guarantees easy application, a natural finish and long lasting hold. All skin types.
MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer £18
This is a great option, I’ve used it personally and at work. A lightweight, fluid concealer that provides medium to full coverage with a comfortable, natural matte finish. Gives a smoother, flawless-looking finish on skin. Helps to conceal flaws, dark spots, skin discolouration and under-eye circles.
KEVYN AUCOIN Sensual Skin Enhancer £38
This is a great concealer if you have very dark circles or heavy bags. I use it regularly at work for problem areas. The Sensual Skin Enhancer was created to mimic the appearance of healthy, radiant skin. It can be used as a spot foundation, concealer, all-over foundation, highlighter (choose a shade lighter than your actual skin tone) or mixed with your moisturiser for a tinted moisturiser.
