Maria Nila - vegan haircare review

MARIA NILA - REVIEW - The Grown Up Edit .jpg

By Wendy Turner

You all know by now that we’re passionate about natural, vegan and cruelty-free products. Maria Nila is 100% vegan haircare developed and produced in Sweden so I jumped at reviewing this hair care brand.

In the usual Scandi way their packaging is desirable too with its graphic print and perfectly chosen colour palette. It’s definitely something you’ll want on your bathroom shelf. And with its tactile, matt bottle, it even ‘feels’ high quality too. All the products have incredible natural scents and not heavily perfumed.

Maria Nila is not the usual hair care company. Our 100% vegan and cruelty-free certified products are developed with love for our animal lovers, our nature and your hair. Animals fill our lives with joy and laughter, and should therefore never be part of a beauty product. By providing high quality vegan products, we make it easy for you to take a step towards a sustainable and friendlier world. When choosing Maria Nila, you choose animal-friendly and colour-preserving haircare products manufactured locally in Sweden. Our chemists always develop Maria Nila's products with the highest quality ingredients. The content should be nice to hair, animals and nature.”

First I tried their shampoo and conditioner and it didn’t disappoint. I would definitely advise that you mix and match their haircare lines to get the results you need from your hair. After washing my hair with Repair Shampoo and conditioning with Soft Conditioner my hair looked healthy and felt balanced, soft and manageable. Believe me that isn’t easy, curly coloured hair will always want to be dry and brittle.

I also took a bunch of their products to work and tried and tested them on the appropriate hair. All of them did exactly what they said they would. True Soft Argan Oil absorbed quickly and left smooth to the touch and frizz-free hair. Their Style & Finish Dry Shampoo instantly freshens up greasy hair and can also be used to add volume to fine hair. I also tried their Style & Finish Styling Cream, its a nourishing, defining styling cream that adds subtle shine to the hair and can be applied to damp or dry hair.  This doesn’t have the strongest hold but it’s a great finishing cream.

Lastly Dani trialled Maria Nila Colour Refresh -  a great nourishing hair masque for giving hair a little extra vitality and colour. It has colour pigments to refresh hair colour and shine. Perfect for Dani as she has semi- permanent colour on her hair to cover her first grey hairs. This hair mask is free from sulphates and parabens and is made out of 100% vegan ingredients. Maria Nila Colour Refresh mask made a huge difference! It evened out the tone and added a golden brown colour to Dani’s hair! She was happy with the results as it gave her hair a quick pick me up and the refresh it needed before it was coloured again. Dani has been using semi-permanent products to minimise damage and now Maria Nila Colour Refresh has helped give her longer breaks in-between colouring so there’s less damage to her hair.

I’ll leave you with that I think you could pick anything your hair desires from Maria Nila and you’ll love it plus you get to give a little bit back to the world!
